Real Weddings: Rod and Jeff – Part 1

Rod and Jeff are an amazing couple we had the pleasure of working with to celebrate their wedding weekend in Palm Springs- with several different events.  We’ll start this multi-part blog post with a few shots by Chris Miller of Imagine Imagery of two fabulous pre-parties.  All the events for this wedding were incredible celebrations of these two terrific people, and we were thrilled to be a part of making it all happen.  This was only the beginning! More photos to come- ceremony & reception? Breathtaking.

Why I Said “I Do” to a Destination Wedding In Palm Springs

My husband and I were planning a destination wedding for October 2010 in Connecticut. We traveled there in late July to nail down the details, and things quickly devolved.  Flying home we knew we had to move to plan B – which didn’t exist.

We had a date that family had built plans around, (10/2/10) and it was now August. We flew back to LA and made a phone call that would lead to Palm Springs wedding bliss. On the other end of the line was Gregory Goodman of My Little Flower Shop . Within a week of arriving home we found ourselves in Palm Springs for the weekend, and when it was over we were ready to say “I do.” Here’s why:

  • The level of hospitality that we experienced at venues we toured was amazing. Everyone we met so welcoming. People here want and appreciate your business!

Palm Springs: a great place for weddings, and wedding photos! Love the backdrop.
  • The town itself has a relaxed vibe and so much character – the shopping, the Mid Century Modern architecture, and the Rat-Pack legacy would be a fun getaway for all the generations of family coming to celebrate with us
  • As a resort town, it’s uniquely prepared to host events. The level of professionalism was incredible, and we knew we would be exquisitely taken care of.
  • It just felt right.  Wherever you choose to hold your destination wedding, you’ve got to feel connected to the place.

Wherever you choose to hold your destination wedding, don’t forget it’s about to join an elite group: the most special places you hold in your hearts as a couple.  Make sure it’s somewhere that deserves a spot on that list.

Be well, and love well.

Internet-searching brides are still wild about centerpieces!

Centerpieces, wedding centerpieces, orchid centerpieces. However they want to phrase it, it’s driving brides and shoppers to our website in search of wedding centerpiece ideas.  “Centerpiece” related search terms have been lighting up our statistics like crazy! So in order to make sure that they find the wedding centerpiece nirvana our readers seek, I’m posting photos from the eponymous section of the website with descriptions, and a little of the wedding centerpiece style inspiration behind them. No cookie-cutter floral design company catalog type jobs here… Enjoy!

Roses and fresh herbs in terra cotta pots add rustic beauty to an outdoor celebration

Imagine this at an afternoon wedding at a ranch or tuscan style villa.  Casual elegance can be just as “fancy” as black tie – it’s all in the attitude.

Tall calla lillies make an elegant statement for a modern bride.

These days, with interior design promoting mid-century modern and minimalist looks, a lot of brides worry about centerpiece flowers being too frilly, too “foo-foo.”  Modern looks can be achieved – and can be gorgeous.

A manzanita tree strung with pomanders of yellow roses, anchored in a box of white hydrangea. Stunnning.

Not every bride wants to color inside the lines. Or have everything be matchy-matchy. Maybe  pops of yellow make you or your groom smile, who knows what your inspiration might be? Let it out…we can work with you to make your vision come to life.

By now you’ve gotten the central centerpiece message.  Your wedding centerpiece can be whatever you want it to be.  Don’t let someone point at something in a book and lock you into a design if you don’t love it! The only thing that should be cookie cutter about your wedding? Cookies. And that’s only if you want to serve them. In order to be fabulous, you’ve got to be yourself.

Be well, and love well!
